Talk: Good to see another gamedev doing this on a soundtrack release

By

Two pages from the booklet of the Pokémon Legends: Arceus soundtrack, showing some of the tracklist annotated with motifs reprised from previous games and the full list of reprised motifs with original the composer and arranger

Pokémon Legends: Arceus takes place in the same place as Pokémon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum except far in the past, so the game references some of DPP’s locations and plot. This extends to the music: a number of tracks in Arceus directly rearrange or reference motifs from DPP songs (as well as a few stray songs from Red/Blue, Gold/Silver, Heartgold/Soulsilver, and Black/White).

The soundtrack booklet for Arceus actually has a master list of every single track referenced in this way along with the original composer and arranger, and the tracklist indicates which original tracks any given track references. The only other soundtrack I’ve seen do this to this level is the one for Breath of the Wild.

More companies should do this! For me specifically. This is the shit I love to see.
