Info
This is a point-and-clicker I’d never heard of before until a track from it was nominated to the GameFAQs Video Game Music Contest. Looks pretty cool though? It’s one of my friend’s favorite games of all time, and apparently it’s extremely difficult, so that’s nice.
If you’re looking for Mystlike-bait deep ambient with pads, reverb echoes, interesting synth and miscellaneous environmental/clanking sounds, and with barely any melodies anywhere, then you’re in the right place. And I’m pretty much always in the mood for that, so I’m in the right place!
The soundtrack release and uploads of this soundtrack are all missing the ending credits theme, possibly because it’s baked into the movie file itself and isn’t a standalone audio file. It’s also very different from the rest of the soundtrack, featuring electric guitar and drums, though I think you can still kinda tell it’s the same person from some of the synths used in the middle.
Recommended tracks:
-
“KITRIS BALLOON FIELD” is the most pitch bend-y track in the game, everything is melting
-
“CAROLINA G. C.” has an active bassy riff in it that makes the track sound like it’s going to break out into a dance tune at any moment (it never does)
-
“THE DAM” has some agreeable warpy pad chords at 1:07 and elsewhere
-
“MARIANA” makes some nice use of empty space after some big chime hits
-
“MATIA’S ZONE” is the most actively hostile-sounding track in the game, chiefly because of that very buzzy synth
