Info
A couple of random things happened at once (including Phil Salvador streaming Riven) that got me in the mood to play some kind of first-person puzzle adventure game, and I remembered that I’ve had Obduction for years and never played it. I’ve now fixed that problem! Very enjoyable game, I liked that thing a lot, and the lonely soundtrack definitely made me feel some stuff while I was playing it. The music’s largely piano-centric ambience, a little dark but not super sinister, with lots of cool synth sounds and occasional cool dissonance and odd time/polymeters.
Recommended tracks:
-
“Not Worth the Wistful Sentimentality of this Moment” is a nice track to watch an eerie light at a campground to
-
“Iron Altitude High” is the tensest track in the game, so much so that it caught me majorly off guard when it started playing
-
“From the Innocent Earth” features some nice piano ploonks and has a really cool short synth line at 1:14 with weird phrasing
-
“Always Ignore the Damage You’ve Done” has some complex polymetric interactions going on between the drums, bass, and piano
