About a year ago, BANDAI NAMCO started releasing themed ten-track selections of music from the Taiko no Tatsujin series on digital music services. The tracks come from different games in the series at random, and some have been previously released on earlier albums while others are just being released for the first time. I really wish they would just release single albums collecting music from single releases of the games, but they’ve been doing stuff like this since the beginning.
The theme of this specific volume is a term they made up just now, kousoku-core, or “high tempo-core” as in the translated title of the album, so it shouldn’t be too hard to guess what kind of music you’re going to get here. Fast songs! Lots of electronic. You could call some of this “artcore.” It’s rhythm game music so there are some time signatures in there too.
Recommended tracks:
-
“colorful” (Shogo Nomura) is cute until it gets out of control at 0:45 (actually it’s still cute then too)
-
“round and fast and crazy rhythm” (Rish, vo. choko) is a Rish song, and if you don’t know what that means, you’re sure about to
-
“SEITEN NO REIMEI” (steμ, vo. siroa) has some random tempo and rhythm changes, because rhythm games hate their players and want them to suffer
