Info
Here’s some kind of adventure game, where you explore a bunch of fantasy kingdoms and solve puzzles to fix their problems or something? I don’t know too much about this besides that the music absolutely rips.
The main theme was composed by famous guy Yukihiro Takahashi, but the rest of the music was handled in-house by Jaleco. I’m very unfamiliar with Ryo Yamazaki and no one on this planet knows who キューすけ is, but Takahiro Ogata is a wonderful composer and this is definitely his best work. The soundtrack is packed with beautiful harmonic changes and all the ’90s synths you can handle. There’s a range of different instrumentation and styles here, but I might broadly call the soundtrack “ambient, synthetic fantasy jazz.”
For more like this, I’d wholeheartedly recommend T kara Hajimaru Monogatari, which aside from the main theme (again by Yukihiro Takahashi) is entirely by Takahiro Ogata.
Recommended tracks:
-
“Forbidden Mistakes” has huge “tension theme” energy
-
“Elderly Hate Young Adult Literature” has a cute melody and cute mallet accompaniment and cute chords
-
“All vs. Everyone vs. Anyone” is a pompous cartoon
-
“Bleached Breath” has a fantastic syncopated bit at 0:15 (59:43 in the combined video)
-
“Sinister Ticking” goes in on the “whole tone cartoon music” vibe and has some weird sounds in addition to the obvious clock noises
-
“Born in the Dragon’s Egg” is a chill jam that has The Chords
(track titles are unofficial)
