Info
2Days was (is?) a duo of composer/bassist Wataru Fujita and vocalist Kiyomi Kumano. There’s not a whole lot of information about the group out there, though thankfully their website is archived so we can find a little (like how they formed in 1995). Fujita himself also doesn’t seem to have a particularly large footprint, besides apparently performing at live events with various groups. Kumano, on the other hand, does have a pretty well-documented career as a vocalist and lyricist.
2Days contributed two songs to home console versions of pop’n music games, which together with Kumano’s involvement in a bunch of other Konami projects were apparently good enough to get them a full solo album release on Konami’s music label: Days Gokochi (meaning something like “the feeling of Days” or “a Days state of mind”). The album features long versions of both pop’n songs (tracks 1 & 10) and then ten original tracks. The genre here is city pop from start to finish, with live, funky bass on a bunch of tracks because, well, Fujita’s a bassist and all. It’s a fun, breezy li’l trip.
Recommended tracks:
-
“Fireworks at High Noon” starts with a weird synth intro before eventually getting to bass, guitar, and piano solos
-
“My Body” is the latter of the two game songs and has those chill city pop chord changes you and I both crave along with the slap bass you and I both crave
