Played a scary Twine game about insect horror and body horror yesterday after it was linked on Weird Fucking Games—and the game definitely warrants a For Real content warning for both of those things. It’s a really short game so the soundtrack is also really short: just eight minutes of music across three tracks. I enjoyed it! It deploys a standard horror game toolbox of drones, metallic clanking/scraping, and miscellaneous spooky noises, and I appreciated the transposing chords and rhythmic play found in a couple of the tracks.
Recommended track:
- “Concrete Hive” tricks me with the time signature at 1:10 because the melody and percussion start with a strong hemiola 3-3-2-2-2 rhythm, but then there are two extra beats because it’s actually just in 4/4
