Info
We’ve reached the second Virtual Boy game of six to not have an emulated audio set, which are backloaded in the release chronology so we’ll be running into them a lot more frequently now. This is a pretty standard fishing game by LOCOMOTIVE, so Takashi Kumegawa is back from V-Tetris, though this soundtrack is by another, new member of its sound team who was seemingly only there for a couple of years, Akiko Hida.
There’s no particularly good rip of this game, with the ones that exist being both incomplete and very noisy recordings, so your best bet for listening to this might actually just be to skim through a gameplay video like I’m doing. There doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of music, just a title theme, map theme, two fishing location themes, tournament results theme, ending theme, credits theme, and some jingles. It’s all very calm, fairly forgettable music that sounds like fishing.
Recommended tracks:
-
“Start Screen” changes up the melodic rhythm slightly at 0:24 in a way that catches me off guard sometimes
-
“Fishing Theme A” is the spiciest the soundtrack gets, soloing a little bit at 0:23
(track titles are unofficial)
