Credits have come out for Tears of the Kingdom a few days in advance of the soundtrack; some labels release this information to retailers ahead of time, and one of them is the publisher of this album!

The two returning composers from Breath of the Wild—Manaka Kataoka and Hajime Wakai—contributed a lot less this time, with a lot of their tracks just being reused from the first game. The bulk of the new music, including all the dungeon and boss themes, were done by the three newer composers who have never written music for a Zelda game before: Maasa Miyoshi, Masato Ohashi, & Tsukasa Usui. Just about every single track with unhinged prog or cool sound design in it ended up by one of those three, with all three responsible for at least one 10-out-of-10 piece. Nintendo just hires the most insane graduates out of Japanese music universities every year. They just keep getting away with this.

A recap of who composed each of the pieces I posted in my initial soundtrack post:

  • Maasa Miyoshi: “Shrine of Light: Battle,” “Temple of Time”

  • Masato Ohashi: “Fire Temple: 5th Stage,” “Marbled Gohma,” “Rocky Area”

  • Tsukasa Usui: “Flux Construct Battle,” “Korok Forest (During the Phenomenon)”

  • Hajime Wakai: “Hateno School”
