Info

And here’s Takahashi’s other (known) solo game soundtrack, a turn-based strategy game by Naxat based on Romance of the Three Kingdoms which is not related to KOEI’s better-known series (there are quite a few different Japanese adaptations of this).

There’s not a lot to this soundtrack: there’s exactly one clean piece of music more than fifteen seconds long, and everything else is either a short jingle or a slightly longer piece with a Japanese voiceover. They took the easy way out and just went with classical Chinese/Japanese instrumentation, though a number of the tracks do have some subtle electronic accents to them. I actually enjoyed a good number of the jingles, there were some cool sound textures and chord changes. I saved a bunch of them for later consideration for my “good jingles” blog that I’m never actually ever going to make!

Recommended tracks:

  • Track 3 is the one “real track” and is suitably grandiose for a main theme

  • Track 60 is a kinda sinister jingle with some atmospheric sound effects

  • Track 62 has some warm, comfy chords
