Info
A mysterious 1987 vinyl EP by a Japanese chanson singer, which is apparently the only thing he ever did. I’d describe these songs as… JRPG ballads? Romantic singing paired with like SNES- or PS1-era sampler instrumentation and compositional figures you might expect to hear in an ambient environmental track or emotional cutscene. It’s actually very cool, Aesthetic stuff.
Recommended tracks:
-
“While Listening to a Lullaby” starts off with lovely synth textures and has a cool break at 2:21, of all the JRPG tracks this is definitely the most JRPG
-
“Hometown Nostalgia” is the most directly pop song on the album and has a rhythmic bit I really like at 2:41
(track titles are unofficial translations by me)
